The medieval town of Certaldo is a central spot for exploring Italy’s Tuscany region. The hilltop walled city is roughly a 45-minute train ride away from cultural monument-filled Florence and 40 minutes from UNESCO-listed Siena. The surrounding countryside is filled with rolling farmland.

A villa now for sale in the outskirts takes in panoramic views of vineyards, olive groves and fields from its elevated perch. A weathered-looking tile roof and handcrafted brick-and-stone facade give it an appealing rustic charm.

The completely renovated residence sleeps 14 and can accommodate an extended family seeking a quiet vacation stay. Services including restaurants, pubs and shops are close at hand: 4 kilometers or 2.5 miles away.

Amenities are abundant. Stepping stones lead through an expansive lawn to a resort-like infinity pool outfitted with sunbeds and a shaded area. The gazebo is set with a table and chairs. The veranda is furnished with sofas and a corner spa. Ample parking is available inside an electronic gate.

Creature comforts continue inside with air conditioning, Wi-Fi and a laundry room.

The ground floor of the house centers on a Tuscan-style living room with a groin-vaulted brick ceiling, terra-cotta floors, fireplace and dining table for 14. The room accesses the veranda.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a refrigerator, freezer, oven, stove, dishwasher, coffee machine and dishware. The gazebo, which can seat 16 for al fresco dining, sits right outside the kitchen.

Including the primary suite, there are seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms throughout the villa with such features as arched ceiling alcoves, wood beams and colorful tilework.

Building Heritage managing director Jacopo Del Maestro is representing the property. The price is available upon request.

Other villages easily reached from the villa include San Gimignano and Monteriggioni, both known for their preserved medieval architecture and towers. The immediate area is filled with wineries and farms providing a taste of local products and produce. Eateries make use of such foods as wild boar, salami, tripe, pecorino Toscano cheese, pasta and pane Toscano, a regional bread.
